I remember in the 6th grade my class was assigned to write out our bucket list items and present them to the class. At that time I was a diligent student and overachiever who only ever wanted to impress my teacher. So I finished my list (first of course) and read it aloud to the class and the first thing I said was:

Before I die, I want to visit every country in the world

-6th grade me

My teacher at the time, whose name I’ll never forget, rolled his eyes and interrupted me with, “You don’t mean country, you mean continent”.

I was confused because 1) as an insecure kid who was scared to fail I always made sure I reviewed my work and said the right thing and I absolutely meant country and 2) I didn’t understand why he would limit me. To this day I don’t believe in limitations.

I’ve always believed that my mission in life is to consistently prove people wrong, and from that moment on I knew I would do it. I’d see every country in the world before I die just to prove to my 6th-grade teacher that I could.

However, I wasn’t expecting to fall deeply in love with it. It was when I went to Kenya in 2013 and saw things I thought I’d only ever see on Animal Planet, that I truly realized there’s so much more out there for me to see, experience, and learn. What was initially motivation driven mostly by spite turned into a deep desire to see everything there is to see before I take my last breath.

And if I didn’t make it to every corner of the earth then, hey, at least I had fun and ate good food while trying.

We live in an incredible time on this planet where traveling is mostly limitless. We don’t have to get on a boat for months at a time just to get to Europe. In 24 hours you could be at some of the farthest corners of the earth. I think its important to take advantage

This blog is to meant to share what I learn through my experiences of traveling across the world and sharing things that I’ve learned.

One thing you’ll learn about me is that I am one of those type-A travelers. I NEED an itinerary but I definitely save a little time for spontaneity. I love the process of building out a trip so much that I’ve started to do it for others! I hope you enjoyed reading about me and my life, so next time you get exhausted thinking of searching for the perfect hotel or cruise, or even want to sit back while someone else plans a day-to-day itinerary, think of me instead!Â
