Spring is coming and it’s time to start thinking about a few eco-friendly travel must haves for your next trip! I’ve compiled a list of items that provide convenience while also minimizing negative impacts on the planet!

1. Reef Safe Sunscreen

At the top of the travel must haves list we have reef safe sunscreen. Sunscreen is super important for people of all shades, however the chemicals can have a toxic effect on the coral reefs in the ocean. Therefore reef safe sunscreen which excludes ingredients such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, or avobenzone. The sunscreen above contains all natural ingredients and is even safe for kids!

2. Biodegradable wipes

Sometimes on long hikes you want to stop and wipe off your hands to freshen up for lunch but there’s nothing around except leaves! Biodegradable wipes are the best way to ensure that your hands are clean but you’re not creating more waste.

3. Solar powered charging pack

When you’re traveling around a new city or hiking in the woods, it can be hard or impossible to find an outlet to charge your devices. That’s why one of the best eco-friendly travel must haves is a solar powered charging bank. This one charges up to 3 devices at once and provides hours of charging time to ensure your phone or camera is ready to go!

4. Laundry sheets

During my 6 months in Europe, I traveled around to different hostels and airbnb and nothing beats finding a place that has a washing machine! The most eco-friendly travel must have are laundry sheets! You never have to worry about paying for laundry detergent or having to lug around the proper amount of liquid. Toss these sheets in your bag and you’re ready to go!

5. Toothpaste tabs

After a long flight, brushing your teeth will help get rid of the icky and unclean feeling. Pack a bottle of toothpaste tabs and you’ll never go without! These are super easy to chew a few times and create a great lather. They have a mint flavor so you can have minty fresh breath when you land!

6. Screwable toothbrush

Of course with tooth paste tabs you’ll need this perfect eco-friendly travel tooth paste. Made out of biodegradable materials, this toothbrush is easy to stowaway in a small personal bag.

7. Paper soap sheets

When I went on a hike in Peru, we stopped at a convenience store with a bathroom but had no hand soap! One of the girls traveling with me had these paper soap sheets that were a total game changer! This is my new favorite eco-friendly travel must have and I plan on bringing them on every trip now! This is another item where you don’t have to think about liquid amounts at all!

8. Washable makeup remover wipes

Washable make up remover wipes are an incredible way to move away from using disposable makeup remover wipes that are terrible for the environment. I really like this specific product because it comes in a bag meant to be tossed in the laundry. The only issue is this may not be the best for those who wear HEAVY makeup daily. If you wear light makeup or want to apply a toner this is great!

9. Disposable wipes made of bamboo

Of course those with heavier makeup may want to use a disposable option, which I recommend to buy bamboo makeup wipes. These are my favorite products to travel with out of this travel must haves list for a few different reasons. Bamboo is incredibly renewable, requires minimal water,  and is used in many eco-friendly products because of how quickly it grows. If you’re looking for any products that are eco-friendly, definitely pay attention to whether or not the products are made of bamboo.

10. Book on Sustainable travel

Every vacation should be done with a good book. I’ve read this one on slow travel and it really is eye opening. Don’t just take my word for it, see for yourself.
