If you’ve heard recently, Miami has been cracking down on the spring breakers coming into the city this year with early curfews and increased police presence. However, I have compiled a list of spring break vacation ideas that I think can be planned pretty last minute (especially if you’re dealing with large groups of friends).
San Pedro, Belize
I recently came back from a trip to San Pedro, Belize and I can say for a fact that this is one of the most beautiful and chill islands I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. There’s tons of activities such as snorkeling or scuba diving, parasailing, and more. The island is pretty tiny so the mode of transportation is golf carts, which everyone rents out and enjoys driving them around.
If you’re interested in other hiking or historical activities, you can stay in San Pedro and take a day trip to Belize City for a tour to the Mayan Ruins. Typically people stay on either San Pedro island or Caye Caulker, but the latter has more chill vibes while San Pedro has a more party atmosphere.
During my trip I stayed at Las Terazzas, which was a very beautiful and accommodating resort, but definitely on the more affordable side (DETAILED RESORT REVIEW TBA). This resort was a bit further out of the town, however as I said, San Pedro is tiny so the golf cart rides were always around 20 minutes long.
Mexico City, Mexico
The classic spring break vacation idea is Cancun or Tulum, but for those not super interested in the all inclusive resort vacation, try Mexico City. This city has been on my bucket list for quiet some time, but I haven’t had the time to visit. However, a quick view on tik tok will show you that this is a hot city at the moment.
Incredible food, nightlife, and super aesthetic accommodations all for reasonable prices, makes this the perfect spring break vacation. A friend of mine who lives in Mexico City recommends Roma Norte or La Condesa as the best neighborhood to stay in for foreigners. The restaurant options are endless, and sometimes the best food is found when you just walk around and find a small business with local owners.
🌱Eco – Friendly Hotel Option – Kimpton Virgilio
This hotel is centrally located and publicly reports information about its recycling and water conservation efforts in the hotel. It takes small steps, but every step counts!
As a Fora Travel Advisor, if you book this hotel through me I can offer a hotel credit, complimentary daily breakfast, local welcome amenity and more!

San Juan, Puerto Rico
San Juan was one of my first few tropical destinations, and I think it’s still a perfect place to have your spring break vacation. If you are interested in the all inclusive resort experience, this is one of the best locations. There’s beaches, hiking, and quaint old cities with so much history and culture. I’ll always remember my hike in El Yunque Rainforest, and it’s definitely part of the island you don’t want to miss.
Consider a Cultural Tour of the Dominican Republic to see life outside of the resort, swim in a natural waterfall, and do a bit of horseback riding all in one day!
Nashville, TN
Calling all country fans! Nashville has continued to be a hotspot for bachelorette parties, but who’s to say you can’t have a fabulous spring break trip here?! From bars to good food, there’s endless options for your Spring break in Nashville
Charleston, SC
This southern getaway may not see the same spring break crowds as Miami, but it is still a gorgeous city with incredible foods, nightlife and beaches. This is actually next on my travel list (even though I am from SC and have visited in the past), but it’s such a great city that I am desperate to go back again (and eat!).
New Orleans, LA
New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the entire world! I would never miss an opportunity to go and have the time of my life. The food of course is incredible, but Bourbon street is always a good time. Regardless of your music taste, there’s something for everyone!
If you want to do something different, during my most recent trip to New Orleans we went down to the bayou and did an alligator tour. It was much more enjoyable than I expected, and you get to feed the gators!
During my most recent visit, I stayed at the One11 Hotel, which is close enough to the action that you could walk to everything. It was also far enough that it wasn’t too noisy at night. This hotel is reasonably priced and a great place to stay during Mardi Gras!

St. Augustine, FL
This city is also on my list and a great spring break idea for someone interested in a more chill vibe for their vacation. It’s a historical coastal town with some great beaches and restaurants nearby. This charming town is perfect for a family interested in avoiding the crows especially down in Miami.
Sedona, AZ
Sedona is becoming even more popular especially for the holistic girlies who want a getaway filled with hiking, good food and relaxation. I’ve done a review of CIVANA Wellness Resort, which my client loved! It’s a great spring break idea for someone not particularly interested in partying and nightlife.
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Punta Cana was my very first spring break vacation as a college student and definitely very memorable. This is the place to go if you’re looking for the typical spring break vibe with college students partying and having an incredible time. Most of the resorts will be all inclusive, but I always suggest doing an activity off of the resort to have the chance to experience the culture of the country.
Roatan, Honduras
Honduras is becoming increasingly popular, particularly the island of Roatan. Only 3 hours from Miami airport, this island has some of the most perfect beaches and incredible diving opportunities. It’s more affordable than some of the other options on this list which make it perfect for the college students looking for somewhere warm for the week!
